Alhamdulillah, Mentorship Programme Vol. 1 with our national champion, Muhammad Izzat, has officially come to an end!
During school holiday, BMX Johor had the opportunity to organise a special five-day BMX training and mentorship programme for our young riders.
More than just a training camp, this programme was created to give our riders the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced athlete, gain new perspectives, build confidence and understand what it takes to grow as a BMX rider.
For this first edition of the BMX Johor Mentorship Programme, our riders were guided by none other than Muhammad Izzat, one of Malaysia's leading BMX riders and a National Champion.
More Than Just Training
Throughout the five days, our riders had the opportunity to train, learn and spend valuable time with Izzat—not only as a coach, but also as a mentor.
The sessions covered riding techniques, training discipline, race preparation and the mindset required to continue improving. More importantly, our riders were able to hear first-hand experiences from someone who has gone through the journey of competitive BMX himself.
For young athletes, having someone they can look up to and learn from can make a meaningful difference. A mentor can show them that progress does not happen overnight. It comes through consistency, discipline, hard work and the willingness to keep learning.
This is what we hoped to create through this programme: a space where our riders could learn not only how to ride better, but also how to become better athletes and individuals.
Building a Stronger BMX Community
The programme was also about bringing our BMX community closer together.
Having our riders train together during the school holiday created an environment where they could encourage one another, share experiences and build stronger friendships. Every rider came with their own strengths, challenges and goals, but they were united by the same passion for BMX.
We hope the lessons and experiences gained during these five days will stay with them long after the programme has ended.
Every rider's journey starts somewhere. The goal is not to become the best overnight, but to keep taking the next step forward.
A Big Thank You
A programme like this would not have been possible without the support and commitment of many people.
Our sincere appreciation goes to Danial from BMX Johor, whose idea and early initiative helped set this programme in motion. What started as an idea became a meaningful opportunity for our riders.
We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to all the BMX Johor parents who continuously sacrifice their time, energy and resources to support their children. Your commitment behind the scenes is a huge part of every rider's journey.
A special thank you goes to the BMX Johor committee and everyone who contributed their time, effort and support to make this five-day programme possible.
And, of course, our biggest appreciation goes to our mentor, Muhammad Izzat.
Thank you, Izzat, for taking the time to train our riders, share your knowledge, experience and stories, and most importantly, for inspiring the next generation of BMX riders in Johor.
Your guidance may be just one chapter in their journey, but the lessons you shared could stay with them for many years to come.
One Small Step Towards Something Bigger
Mentorship Program Vol. 1 may be officially wrapped, but the journey continues.
We started with a simple idea: to give our riders the opportunity to learn from someone who has already walked the path they hope to take.
From that idea came five days of training, learning, friendship and memories.
We believe this is only the beginning.
At BMX Johor, we want to continue creating opportunities for our young riders to grow—not only as BMX athletes, but also as disciplined, confident and determined individuals.
We started with a small step, and InsyaAllah, we will continue building something even better.
MENTORSHIP PROGRAM VOL. 1
IT'S A WRAP!
InsyaAllah… see you at Vol. 2.
Supporting the Next Generation of BMX Riders
As we look ahead, BMX Johor hopes to continue creating more opportunities like this for our young riders.
We believe that developing young athletes takes more than training alone. It requires a strong community, dedicated parents, passionate coaches and mentors, and the support of organisations and individuals who believe in the potential of our youth.
We warmly welcome sponsors, partners and supporters who would like to be part of this journey.
Your support can help us provide better training opportunities, organise future mentorship programmes, support our riders in competitions, improve access to equipment and create more meaningful experiences for the next generation of BMX athletes in Johor.
Whether through financial sponsorship, equipment, services or other forms of support, every contribution can make a difference.
If you or your organisation would like to support BMX Johor and be part of developing the next generation of riders, we would be happy to hear from you.
Together, let's build the future of BMX in Johor.
BMX JOHOR
Ride. Learn. Grow. Together.
